General Conditions of Sale and Use: Lock Academy – Escape Game Troyes
These terms and conditions are available at any time and systematically brought to the attention of each customer / user to allow said customer to place their order. Thus, the placing of an order and checking “I accept the terms and conditions” during the payment process implies full and unreserved acceptance by the customer of these terms and conditions.
ARTICLE 1 – CONCEPT
Lock Academy is a full-scale breakout game belonging to the company LOCK ACADEMY SARL, operated under licence by PARADOXIA SARL. These terms and conditions are applicable to any contract making available the use of a game-room entered into by (1) any company of the PARADOXIA SARL group and (2) the users of said room, hereafter referred to as “USERS”; whether they personally booked the game-room, or are participating as part of the team of the person who made the reservation, hereinafter referred to as “BUYER”. These conditions also apply regardless of the method used for the booking, whether it was made via the website of PARADOXIA SARL, named hereinafter “WEBSITE”, or via or by the PARADOXIA SARL personnel. The game space available to the players is hereinafter called “ROOM” and the contract of provision “AGREEMENT”. The game session for which the BUYER reserves and pays on the WEBSITE is hereinafter called “GAME SESSION”.
PARADOXIA SARL recognises the right to modify or alter any part of these terms and conditions and the content of its WEBSITE (http://www.troyes.lockacademy.com), this in its sole discretion, at any time without notice.
The PARADOXIA SARL General Conditions of Sale and Use are available on the WEBSITE and are available free on request from the PARADOXIA SARL personnel.
ARTICLE 2 – PROVISION OF AND USE OF THE ROOM
According to the very principle of the Live Escape game, PARADOXIA SARL grants USERS the right to occupy the ROOM for a maximum period of sixty (60) minutes. The occupation of a ROOM is for the sole purpose of participating in a live escape game organized by PARADOXIA SARL, which must be done by team of 3 to 5 people (from 2 players for the outdoor escape games Operation Mindfall and Magic Portal).
USERS accept that the maximum period in the ROOM is 60 minutes, regardless of whether they are able to find all the clues and solve all the puzzles or not. This issue is intrinsic to the very principle of the live escape game. Meanwhile, USERS agree that the game may end before the end of 60 minutes, especially if they are able to find all the clues and solve all the puzzles in less than 60 minutes. They acknowledge that completing the game in less than 60 minutes does not entitle the USERS or the BUYER to any tariff adjustment or compensation.
Admission to the live escape mystery ROOM is conditional on presentation of the booking confirmation e-mail (sent shortly after the payment process to the BUYER) and on presentation of the BUYER’s proof of identity.
The minimum age to participate in LOCK ACADEMY is 9 years accompanied by two adults or more, or 15 years unaccompanied. Minor users aged over 15 years do not have to be accompanied by an adult. In case of doubt over the age of a user, PARADOXIA SARL reserves the right to request a proof of identity.
In Troyes, the mystery ‘A Near Perfect Crime’ is accessible to people with reduced mobility. However, we recommend that you include at least one able-bodied person in your team.
USERS are required to maintain the ROOM and equipment (including but not limited to: decorations, furniture etc.) in good condition and to use them appropriately and as authorised. Therefore, the USER recognises in this AGREEMENT that any damage caused wilfully or accidentally by unauthorized use of the ROOM and its equipment will be subject to a fee.
Furthermore, the USER is obliged to use the ROOM and equipment so as not to cause or risk causing any damage to other USERS, to the premises or to the equipment of PARADOXIA SARL – Escape Game Troyes.
Throughout time spent in PARADOXIA SARL premises, the USER undertakes to behave in a respectable manner, comply with the rules and to cooperate with the PARADOXIA SARL personnel. As such, PARADOXIA SARL does not tolerate any form of violence, whether verbal or physical, any form of harassment or intimidation towards its employees and thus reserves the right to refuse access to the premises to anyone whose behaviour is deemed by personnel to fulfil any of the above criteria. PARADOXIA SARL also reserves the right to deny access to its escape rooms to any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs and as a safety measure for the said person. For all the conditions mentioned above, denial of access does not qualify for any compensation or refund.
Due to the nature of the mystery game, under no circumstances shall recordings be made in the ROOM. Thus, the use of video and / or audio recording devices (including but not limited to: cell phones, cameras, cameras, Google Glass, Go Pro) is prohibited. Use of this kind of device will cause the game to be completely halted for the whole team.
PARADOXIA SARL expects its USERS to not disclose directly or indirectly the details of the game. Any partial or full disclosure would violate the commercial interests of PARADOXIA SARL – Escape Game Troyes.
ARTICLE 3 – PRICES
The prices charged by PARADOXIA SARL are listed on the WEBSITE (in the tab “Book”) and are also posted in the premises of PARADOXIA SARL. They are displayed in euros (€) (including VAT and all taxes) per person, for a SESSION of sixty minutes. The price per person is determined based on the number of participants within a team (3-6 people). Rates decrease with more members, and are calculated as follows:
3 players: 28 € / player
4 players: 25 € / player
5 players: 22 € / player
If only two USERS wish to participate in the game, a SESSION for three USERS must nevertheless be reserved. If a sixth user wishes to participate in an Escape Game session, the cost of the SESSION will be increased by 22 euros for the additional person.
The outdoor mysteries Operation Mindfall and Magic Portal costs :
2 players: 25 € / player
3 players: 20 € / player
4 players: 18 € / player
5 players: 16 € / player
Any other services (including but not limited to: Team Building, corporate event, etc.) as part of rental of the premises of the PARADOXIA SARL will be charge extra.
PARADOXIA SARL reserves the right to change rates at any time. All BUYERS will pay the amount corresponding to the current price at the time of booking.
ARTICLE 4 – BOOKING
The provision of a ROOM is subject to its prior booking and payment. This is done by the BUYER on the WEBSITE of PARADOXIA SARL : http://troyes.lockacademy.com
All bookings are made from the WEBSITE, and availability is displayed on it. Reservations are only final upon receipt of reservation confirmation e-mail, which is sent to the BUYER after the payment process.
Only payments by credit card are accepted on the WEBSITE. If the BUYER cannot pay the amount of the booking by credit card, he will inform PARADOXIA SARL personnel prior to booking and report to reception on the day of RESERVATION to pay the amount by cheque, credit card or in cash (euros) and reserve the live escape game session. PARADOXIA SARL staff will not reserve block any game session without payment in advance.
PARADOXIA SARL has entrusted the management of its payment platform to a specialist in secure online transactions, MONETICO PAIEMENT, published by CIC. CIC retains no data on the BUYER in its databases.
The WEBSITE is available in French and English. However, in case of dispute, only the French version of the WEBSITE and the French version of these General Conditions of Sale and Use may be used against PARADOXIA SARL.
No reservation may be cancelled or refunded except in the context of a cancellation by PARADOXIA SARL. In this case, the amount of the original booking will be refunded.
A reservation can not be transferred or resold for commercial purposes. If a reservation is transferred or resold in violation of this article, the holder thereof shall be denied access.
In case of USERS arriving late for a reserved SESSION, the USER will decide whether or not to start the game. In all cases, the ROOM will be vacated at the end time scheduled in the initial booking. PARADOXIA SARL reserves the right to deny access to the USER whose delay amounts to 20 minutes or more. Booking times will always be reminded in the confirmation e-mail sent by PARADOXIA SARL.
If fewer USERS come to attend the game SESSION than was originally planned when booking, the BUYER and / or USERS are not entitled to a refund of the price difference.
If more USERS come to attend the game SESSION than was originally planned when booking, the price difference must be paid before entering the game, this within the limit of 6 players (USERS) authorised per ROOM.
PARADOXIA SARL reserves the right to refuse a BUYER any booking, if the BUYER in question has not paid all the services that have been billed to him.
A postponement of the SESSION is possible up to one week before the date originally reserved, by writing to PARADOXIA SARL using the contact form located on its WEBSITE. If a suitable alternative date cannot be found, the Customer may request to exchange the service for a Gift Card of the equivalent value.
If the BUYER cancels, no refund will be issued, in accordance with Article L221-28 of the Consumer Code.
A customer who bought a gift voucher online can exercise his right of withdrawal or “cooling-off” period up to 14 days after purchase, if the voucher has not been used. ARTICLE 5 – CONDITIONS FOR COMPANIES*
Terms payment for Businesses (event packs)
Payments can be made by the BUYER in the form of cheque or bank transfer.
The order must be made by the BUYER in full no later than 7 days before the date of delivery. In the absence of payment on that date, PARADOXIA SARL reserves the right to cancel the order.
Business cancellation conditions (event packs)
Once the order has been placed by the BUYER (understood as signing of a quote with ‘bon pour accord’), the following conditions apply in case of request of cancellation:
– Cancellation of an event pack made 15 days or more before the date of delivery:
Payment for the entire order will be reimbursed by PARADOXIA SARL, and no penalty will be incurred by the BUYER.
– Cancellation of an event pack between 14 and 7 days before the date of delivery:
If payment for the service has already been made by the BUYER, an amount equal to 50% of the inc.VAT total of the service will be made by PARADOXIA SARL.
If payment for the service has not already been made by the BUYER, an penalty charge equal to 50% of the inc.VAT total of the service will be demanded by PARADOXIA SARL.
– Cancellation of an event pack made 7 days or less before the date of delivery:
If payment for the service has already been made by the BUYER, no reimbursement will be made by PARADOXIA SARL.
If payment for the service has not already been made by the BUYER, an penalty charge equal to 100% of the inc.VAT total of the service will be demanded by PARADOXIA SARL.
*Businesses who have booked a standard session from our website are not affected by this article.
ARTICLE 6 – SPECIFIC CONDITIONS FOR OPERATION MINDFALL AND MAGIC PORTAL
Reservations cannot be cancelled or refunded by the BUYER or by the USER, including due to bad weather conditions, except as part of a cancellation decided solely by LOCK ACADEMY LLC. In this case, the amount of the original booking will be refunded.
Prices charged by LOCK ACADEMY SARL are indicated on the WEBSITE.

ARTICLE 7 – PERSONAL DATA
The BUYER is responsible for the accuracy of the information entered on the escape game online booking form on the WEBSITE.
The BUYER agrees to receive from PARADOXIA SARL commercial offers to their email address or mobile phone by clicking the checkbox authorisation on the WEBSITE.
At the moment of his booking, the BUYER communicates his name, first name, telephone number, email address, postal address, and facultatively the names, first names, email addresses and telephone numbers of every participant to PARADOXIA SARL. These pieces of information are kept three years by PARADOXIA SARL, then deleted in the respect of the GPDR laws.

The BUYER and / or the USER who enters his telephone number on the WEBSITE LOCK ACADEMY TROYES accept to be contacted by PARADOXIA SARL or any other group company by phone or SMS.
PARADOXIA SARL undertakes not to disclose the personal data of its USERS to a company outside the group PARADOXIA SARL, with the exception of an information request authorised by law and in accordance with statutory provisions.
Under the French law “Informatique et Libertés” of the 6th Jan 1978, amended by the Act of 6th Aug 2004, the Customer has a right to access, correct and oppose any information concerning him or her. The Customer can take advantage of these protections by sending a letter to LOCK ACADEMY Troyes – 5 rue Viardin, 10000 Troyes. In accordance with the Articles L223-1 and thereafter of the French Consumer Code, if the customer does not wish to be contacted for commercial reasons on the telephone number that they communicated to the Seller, he or she may register his or her number to the List of telephone numbers refusing commercial contact on the web site https://www.bloctel.gouv.fr or by writing to : Société Opposetel, Service Bloctel, 6 rue Nicolas Siret 10000 Troyes. This registration is free and lasts for 3 years. However, the Seller may contact by phone any Buyer who expressly requests it, for a period which can be freely defined by the Buyer, or failing that, for 3 months from the date of the Buyer’s request.
ARTICLE 8 – SECURITY AND SAFETY
The USER undertakes to respect all safety measures that are given to him or her, whether contractual, displayed on site or given orally by the PARADOXIA SARL personnel.
It is absolutely and strictly forbidden to smoke inside the site.
Each user undertakes to read and comply with the safety and fire regulations as well as emergency exits. These are clearly identified in the premises of PARADOXIA SARLL. It is forbidden to interfere as emergency exits, which must remain clear in all circumstances. The USER may use the emergency exits if and only if the situation requires evacuation of the premises. Abuse and / or unwanted opening of the exits by one or more USER(S) will result in the USER being charged for the costs incurred by this abuse.
The USER is aware that it is absolutely forbidden to bring onto the premises and in the escape game ROOM objects considered (1) physical hazards (explosive, flammable, oxidizing, or corrosive materials, pressurised or liquified gas), (2) dangerous to health (toxic materials, materials corrosive to skin, irritants, carcinogenic / teratogenic materials).
ARTICLE 9 – PHOTOS AND CAMERAS
Pictures of each team of USERS can be taken before or after the GAME SESSION These photos may be used by PARADOXIA SARL on its WEBSITE or digital ecosystem (including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. .). These photos will be emailed to USERS in a reasonable time after the game session.
PARADOXIA SARL can not be held responsible for the way in which photos are used by other USERS and / or by the BUYER.
Each live escape game ROOM has a video and audio surveillance system which allows PARADOXIA SARL personnel to follow the GAME SESSION and give USERS hints if necessary. This feature is in place to improve the game experience, and no recording is made of any of the USERS GAME SESSIONS.
ARTICLE 10 – LANGUAGE OF CONTRACT, APPLICABLE LAW AND SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES
If these General Conditions of Sale and Use or the Order are presented in multiple languages, we hereby expressly state that the French version is the legally binding version in case there are any difficulties of interpretation and/or application of the provisions of these General Conditions and the Order. The applicable language for the General Conditions of Sale and Use and of the order is French.
These General Conditions of Sale and Use and the order are subject, both concerning their interpretation and their execution, to French law.
Pursuant to Ordinance No. 2015-1033 of 20 August 2015 and Application Decree No. 2015-1382 of 30 October 2015, any consumer difference or dispute, within the provisions of Article L.152-2 of the French Consumer Code, can be settled amicably through mediation with the MTV.Travel – Tourism and Travel Mediation.
To submit your dispute to the mediator, you can either:
